La Cafeteria

Rustic Italian lunch, made fresh daily.

Hot dishes and mixed plates, pizza, panini, deli sandwiches, salads, soups and weekend specials. Espresso, cappuccino and lattes from the coffee bar, pastries, and gelato made in house.

Eat in the café or out on the patio on warm days, or call ahead for takeout.

Our story

A Calgary family tradition since 1958

The Iamartino family founded Great West Italian Importers in 1958. Their daughter Sera grew up in the business: stocking the store's shelves, doing the paperwork for parents who didn't speak much English, and filling Safeway shelves with the family's products.

Today Sera and her husband Mike, with Sera's sister Sue and Sue's husband Giovanni, run both sides of the company: The Italian Store, and Scarpone's Quality Italian Foods, which imports products from all over the world.
